今回は、トカゲの脱皮不全の疾患についてお話しします。

トカゲの脱皮不全の病態

脱皮不全は飼育下の爬虫類でよく遭遇する疾患であり、不適切な湿度や温度管理など飼育環境の不備と繋ぎます。脱水や皮膚疾患（細菌性または真菌性）も脱皮不全を引き起こす原因になります。

トカゲの脱皮不全の臨床症状

全身的や部分的に脱皮片が残っていることです。指先の腫れや色の変化がみられる場合虚血性の壊死を示す可能性があります。

トカゲの脱皮不全の診断

身体検査で分かりになります。局所的な脱皮不全は目と口の周り、指先と尾の先によくみられます。

トカゲの脱皮不全の治療

脱皮不全は不適切な飼育環境と関連しており、トカゲの種類に合わせて飼育環境の改善が必要です。残っている脱皮片を剝がしやすくなるため、霧吹きまたは水浴びで充分にふやかしてから取り除きます。無理矢理剥がすと皮膚を傷つけることもあるので、取り除くことが難しい場合は動物病院の受診をお勧めします。そのまま放置すると二次細菌感染や指/尾の先端の壊死や脱落などの併発症が起こすこともあります。

 

【Dysecdysis in lizards】

 

Occurrence

Dysecdysis means difficult or abnormal shedding. It is a common presentation for reptile species and is usually associated with husbandry problems such as inappropriate humidity and temperature. Dehydration is also a key contributor to dysecdysis. Skin disease (bacterial or fungal) may also lead to dysecdysis or even increase shedding frequency. 

 

Clinical signs

Lizards with dysecdysis can present with patches of retained skin throughout the body or segmental dysecdysis in specific regions such as the eyes and digits. Swelling or color change seen on the digits may indicate avascular necrosis. 

 

Diagnosis

Dysecdysis s easily diagnosed at physical examination. Any lizard presenting with retained, incomplete, or abnormal shedding, is suffering from dysecdysis. 

 

Treatment

Because dysecdysis is often related to poor husbandry, any deficiencies must be corrected. To increase the moisture of the skin, the lizard should be misted and/or soaked in water to aid in the shedding process. Seek for help form veterinarians if the retained shed cannot be peeled off easily or in cases of retained spectacles. If left untreated, further complications such as secondary infection and avascular necrosis may occur.
