ヘビの病気「ヘビのやけど」

英語でのご紹介もいたします！今回は、ヘビのやけどについてお話しします。
ヘビのやけどの病態
ヘビでみられるやけどは主に保温器具（保温球やパネルヒーターなど）が不適切に設置されることによる皮膚疾患です。保温球を近距離で直接的なやけどだけではなく、ケージ内敷いてあるヒーターの上に長時間乗ることによって低温やけどを引き起こすこともあります。
ヘビのやけどの臨床症状
やけどが軽度の場合は皮膚に水ぶくれができて、鱗の変色/内出血/脱落がみられます。広範囲に及ぶと元気と食欲低下などの全身性症状がみられ、場合によって細菌や真菌の二次感染を起こすこともあります。パネルヒーターによる低温やけどでは腹部のみに皮膚病変がみられるのはほとんどです。
ヘビのやけどの診断
問診と身体検査で分かりになります。経過が長い、二次感染を起こした場合細菌培養検査を行うのが望ましいです。
ヘビのやけどの治療
やけどの範囲が小さい場合には局所的な治療（患部の洗浄．消毒）で済むこともありますが、広範囲のやけどや全身状態の悪化がみられる場合、抗生剤の注射と輸液療法などを行う必要可能性もあります。ヒーターなど設置場所の見直しとケージ内を清潔に保つことも重要です。

Occurrence
As ectothermic animals, reptiles tend to seek appropriate environmental temperatures to satisfy their metabolic activities. And during which thermal burns in snakes is mostly caused by close/direct contact with an unprotected heat or light source.
Clinical signs
Clinical signs depend primarily on the severity of lesions. Erythema, sloughing of scales, and presence of vesicles are early common presentations. With extensive lesions, secondary bacterial and/or fungal infection, anorexia and lethargy can also occur.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis is based upon history, clinical signs and physical examination. Bacterial culture can be helpful in those present with secondary infections.
Treatment
Topical treatment of skin lesions (clean and debride) is necessary in most cases. The use of injectable broad-spectrum antibiotics or fluid therapy may also be necessary depending on severity of the disease. Correction of underlying causes and a clean environment are also of great importance.
